Most business social media pages follow the same pattern: a burst of posts, then weeks of silence, then a guilty burst again. The problem is rarely ideas — it is deciding what to post, every single day.
The fix is to decide once a month, not once a day.
Step 1: Choose 4–5 content pillars
Content pillars are the recurring themes your page talks about. They keep your content varied and on-brand. For most businesses, these work well:
- Educate — tips, how-tos, common mistakes in your industry.
- Prove — results, before/after, client feedback (only real ones).
- Show the people — team, behind the scenes, how work gets done.
- Offer — your services, products, and what's new.
- Engage — questions, polls, festival and seasonal posts.
A good ratio: mostly educate and show, with offers in the mix — not the other way round.
Step 2: Set a weekly rhythm
Consistency beats volume. Pick a rhythm you can actually keep, for example:
| Day | Pillar | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Educate | Carousel with tips |
| Wednesday | Show the people | Reel or photo |
| Friday | Offer or proof | Post or reel |
Three good posts a week, every week, will do more than ten posts one week and nothing for the next three.
Step 3: Fill the calendar in one sitting
Block two to three hours. Open a sheet with columns for date, pillar, format, topic, caption and status. Then:
- Add fixed dates first — festivals, sales, events, launches.
- Fill each remaining slot with a topic from its pillar.
- Reuse your best ideas in new formats: a tip carousel can become a reel next month.
Ideas running dry? Look at the questions customers ask your sales team. Every repeated question is a post.
Step 4: Batch the creation
Creating one post at a time is slow. Instead:
- Write all captions in one go.
- Design all graphics in one session using saved templates.
- Shoot several reels on the same day.
Then schedule everything with Meta Business Suite so it publishes automatically.
Step 5: Review, don't obsess
At the end of the month, look at which posts got saves, shares, comments and — most importantly — enquiries. Do more of what worked next month. Ignore vanity numbers that don't lead anywhere.
Keep it on-brand
Use the same fonts, colours and tone across posts so your page looks like one business, not a collection of random designs. Simple templates make this easy and save time.
